FORENSIC AUDIO ENHANCEMENT

Analyze, Authenticate & Enhance Your Audio

We can make your audio more intelligible and workable with our Audio Forensic Enhancement and Forensics service.

We can enhance recorded phone calls, surveillance recordings and radio messages that may assist in an investigation. We can clear up and  enhance audio recording utilizing numerous features so that a transcript of the audible speech can be produced.

Forensic audio enhancement is the scientific analysis and improvement of audio clarity, typically to improve intelligibility.

  • Digitize your records/tapes and other analog formatted audio.
  • Filter out unwanted pop, click and static sounds.
  • Remove or quiet ranges and specific frequencies.
  • Isolate and remove constant tones or patterns from a recording
  • Normalize voices so that their volumes are equal
  • Reference channels to each other in a stereo recording to perform directional noise cancelling
  • Smooth sounds bordering inaudible gaps
  • Transcribing speech and other audio events

Process

To accomplish enhancement, the most common process is to follow these steps:

If audio is in an analog format, reliably digitize audio recordings onto a computer system, typically in a lossless WAV format. Filter out hiss, click and pop sounds. This is common with recordings that may have suffered partial data loss with age.

Block out quiet ranges and specific frequencies (such as 60Hz wall power, and its multiples, within the USA and Japan). Isolate unwanted constant tones or patterns and then removing those items from across the entire recording.

When the recording is in stereo, reference the channels to each other to perform directional noise cancelling. Normalize voices so that each audible person is heard at near equal volumes.

Smooth sounds that border nearly inaudible gaps. These gaps include those created during the filtering process. Prepare a transcript of speech and other audio events. (as needed)

Submit report or testify in court about the enhancement process and provide expert analysis of the audio events and speech in the recording. (as needed)
